King's Cross and St Pancras formed the underpinnings of London's power of 200 years ago: iconic railway termini backed by mighty gas works, the granary storing wheat for London's bakers, coal drops, marshalling yards and at its heart, the Regent's Canal. The area has recently been reinvented as a city square with fountains, shops, restaurants, a university and much more - come with us and see how history is powering the future. We will also dive back 150 years to the site of the shanty town where scavengers picked over the dust heaps of King's Cross to make a living and hear about the landowners who nearly brought the canal company to its knees. The walk will finish by the old lock-keeper's cottage at Camden, almost unnoticed in the bustle of today's market.

The walk costs £15 p.p. We will cover just over two miles at a gentle pace and there will be a loo and refreshment break (coffee etc not included in the cost). The walk will be led by Charlie Forman, familiar to members from our other walks. Please note, bookings must be received and paid for by Tuesday 2 April and we need 12+ people for the walk to go ahead. Friends and family welcome.
